At Bedale & Aiskew Runners we are keen to encourage people to start running and to develop their running ability with the club.

We know each person has their own goals and their own reasons for running. Some people enjoy socializing whilst keeping physically and mentally healthy, others are motivated by race competitions, some want to manage weight, and some to better themselves.

Whatever makes you want to take part, we will try to support you, and one of the ways in which we do that is by offering programs led by our licensed coaches.

There are currently two programs we run:

  • Couch to 5k (“C25K”) – following our fantastically successful series of programs we are now running these programs regularly. It is a perfect program for people who have never run before or who are very nervous about starting, or those returning to running after an injury or extended period without running. To find out more information and the next available program visit: beginners and those returning from injury
  • Transitional and intermediate program (5k PBs of between 20 minutes and around 35 minutes) – this is aimed at people who are already confident at 5k distances and who want to either achieve 10k for the first time, who already run 10k or more but want to improve their performance or extend the distance up to half-marathon, or who are transitioning from another sport with a good level of fitness but little running technical knowledge. More information on this program can be found here: transitional and intermediate program

We also offer one-to-one coaching, which includes:

  • Individual assessments based on video analysis and athletic curriculum challenges;
  • Personalized planning focussed on your outcome and technical/process goals;
  • Access to all program group sessions and individual work and support outside of the regular sessions;
  • Individual event preparation with your coach; and
  • Participation with your coach at regional coaching workshops led by national team coaches.

If you are interested in one-to-one coaching, please get in touch via, or speak to the head coach, Chris Lees.

Autumn 2018 Couch to 5k program feedback

The C25K programme was very well structured, Chris gave sound advice for the beginner runner on reflective gear, tying laces etc. Chris was also very supportive throughout the programme. It was great to have experienced club runners join us for sessions. The support at the Parkrun from the club was fantastic. It was great to have the C25K structured to work towards the parkrun goal.

Autumn 2018 Couch to 5k program feedback

A lot of support and motivation whilst in the programme. Really enjoy being in a group.

Spring 2019 10k program feedback

I was nervous about joining a running club after so many years of not running. The couch to 5km program was perfect for getting back into it with a really supportive coach Chris who was with us every step of the way. Even if you have never run before in your life, this programme is perfect! I have met some great friends through the programme too!
