Runners raise cash for Charities

Bedale and Aiskew Runners member, Debbie Thompson recently completed the Yorkshire Challenge Race, a 100km route of varied terrain in the Nidderdale Valley. Training throughout the winter months with fellow club members Debbie felt prepared for the event but found it tough going at the halfway mark of 65km. Finishing the race 65th overall out of a field of 202 runners and 28th female over the line; in completing the race Debbie raised £970 for the charity Young Lives v’s Cancer.

Joanne Sinnott also raised vital funds for charity by taking part in her first ultra-race, Endure 24 Leeds. Completing 16 laps of the 8km course in 24hrs a total of – 128km ran, Joanne finished 19th out of 276 in her age Cat. and raised an astonishing £1700 for the charity MNDA.

The club championship races continue with members choosing from the Northallerton Park run and James Herriot Country Trail Run. The James Herriot is a 14km route starting at Castle Bolton and takes in the tracks and trails of Wensleydale. Three members took part and completed the race – Matthew Randall in a time of 01:08:28, Will Retchless – 01:09:02, and second club claim Paul Ellis – 01:05:27.
