On a damp autumn morning 22 BAR members set out on Richmond Castle 10k, setting off from the Batts riverside park heading along the river swale past the spectacular Richmond Falls before crossing the river at Green Bridge and the 1st of 4 climbs heading up Slee gill. Turning left and heading towards Catterick Garrison for the 2nd climb on Plumer Lane and a short circuit of Catterick Garrison before returning towards Richmond for the 3rd arduous climb up Holly Hill. Finally returning across the Swale for the final ascent in Richmond town centre, circumnavigating the Castle walls and descending to a quick finish on the Batts. This challenging undulating course saw fantastic times for several BAR members: Becky Smith finishing 11th female in 47:31, Alison Grayson 55:18, and Katie Watson 1:00:11, all time personal best’s (PB’s) for Louise Baker in 53:26 and Claire Rogers 1:06:57.
Richmond Castle 10k was a significant race for a number of BAR members focusing on the 10k distance in the current Transitional and Intermediate Program. These BAR members celebrated their hard efforts with brilliant performance for; Claire Temple 55:24, Nigel Haresign 1:00:11, Helen Gardiner 1:00:14, Mark Temple 1:00:21, Julie Elsey 1:04:09, Kirsty Temple 1:06:47, Helen Banks 1:06:57, Caroline Pounder 1:09:31, Katy Bamber 1:10:06. Also enjoying a though run were Jason Ashford 43:06, Ben Smith 44:25, Paul Simpson 45:58, Matt Randall 46:55, Chris Lees 47:30, Zack Lake 49:20, Raymond Lightle 55:33, and Peter Bridgstock 1:04:09. In the team competition Becky Smith, Louise Baker, and Claire Temple times combined to saw BAR finish 5th in the female competition.
15 BAR members were out at Parkrun’s, 11 in total at the local Catterick with PB’s for Ruth Hancock in 33:32, James Wigglesworth in 23:11, Charlotte Wardle in 22:54 and for Karen Alford at Harrogate in 26:44.
