With the season moving on the Club Championship is hotting up, how are is it going to change in the last few races? The latest Club Championship race was Tholthorpe 10k starting on the picturesque village green, taking a route on quiet local roads returning to the village for the finish, an excellent course for athlete looking for fast times and personal best’s (PB’s). Several BAR members took the benefit of this fast course, a sub forty for Will Retchless finishing in 39:42, followed in by Chris Lees in 41:30, Ben Smith in 42:15, Tony Clark in 49:20. Keeping the Handicap hot Paul Bainbridge in 49:26 finishing 3rd in the M70 category and Raymond Lightle in 51:08 finishing 4th in the M70 category and John Hunter in 1:02:10. Pulling ahead in the Female Championship Becky Smith finishing in 46:22 and increasing her race count.
BAR had a fantastic contingent in the Simplyhealth Great North Run with a total of 17 members running. In fabulous conditions with a gentle breeze at time and the sun warming up later on. The BAR members had a fantastic time taking in the challenge of the course Paul Simpson was rewarded with a PB in 1:32:26, chasing in James Bartram in 1:28:37 and Paul Berry in 1:32:07. Other members running where Ann Harrington in 2:11:25, Paul Bainbridge in 2:04:19, Alison Garyson in 2:07:24, Tony Wheeldon in 2:40:56, Francis Teer in 2:34:53, Becky Morris in 2:07:06, Katy Bamber in 2:47:25, Kev Gaskell in 1:36:35, Jess Mallison in 2:29:06, Rachel Burr in 2:31:28, Raymond Lightle in 1:47:57, Trudie Chesworth in 2:35:24 and Sue Wheeldon 3:27:04.
A large number of BAR members where supporting local Parkruns at total of 22; Northallerton 16, Catterick 4 and Darlington 2. On the tricky bendy course at Northallerton there were PB’s for Ruth Hancock, Gemma Wardle, Mark Temple, Kay Kelly, and Helen Gardiner.
