All about the hills!

Ripon 10 mile starts and finishes at Hell Wath Nature Reserve along an undulating and picturesque route. Leading runners from Hell Wath around the Studley Royal Estate though beautiful countryside with views across Ripon. Four runners from BAR were out on the multi terrain route in the warm sunny weather Paul Simpson achieved a course personal best (PB) 1:14:09, Jason Ashford 1:18:50, Tony Clark 1:29:24, Raymond Lightle 1:32:59. BAR second claim member Nicola Simpson achieved a course PB of 1:20:22. Paul, Jason, Tony’s times combined in the team competition finished 12th of 18 teams.

Other BAR members were out taking on the hills of the Hardmoors Wainstones routes. The 28 mile marathon route left Chop Gate Village over the Cleveland hills to Osmotherley returning over the Wainstones. The sun was out on the raising the temperature Stuart Black finished 52nd in 6:14:19, and second claim BAR member Lena Conlin on her 87th marathon finished in 6:32:58. Anna Welch took on the challenge of the 10k route finishing 88th in 2:32:51.

The ASDA Foundation Leeds Half Marathon starts and finished in the city centre, with crowds lining the route. Leaving from The Headrow heading out through the village of Meanwood, returning via Kirkstall Abbey and finishing towards the majestic Town Hall at Millennium Square. Chris Pritchard took on the warm and undulating route in a fantastic 1:54:42 taking a massive 15 minutes of his previous PB.

Several BAR members were out at the local Catterick Parkrun, Matt Randall ran a new PB of 20:17 being chased by Paul Bainbridge in 22:45 himself setting a course record in the M70 age group taking a massive 22 seconds off the previous record. Marian Hunter ran in 27:18, John Hunter in 29:21, Jess Mallinson snuck 1 second off her pervious PB to achieve 30:03 and current Couch to 5k program member Wendy Kelvin achieved an early 5k in 34:14.
