The weather last Saturday morning was wet, windy and cold, but nevertheless 14 Bedale and Aiskew Runners were out early taking part at four different Parkrun events. Darlington was the venue for the 10K coaching group with Matt Randall and Becky Smith both recording yet another all time personnel best for the 5K distance with 21-28 and 21-52 respectively, paced by coach Chris Lees (21-52), with Alison Grayson also smashing her all-time personal best finishing in a time of at 27-42 paced by coach Paul Berry (27-43). Alex McNairn finished in 27-48 (running with his granddaughter) and Jess Mallinson also achieved an all-time personal best of 30-19 (although we think she actually managed sub-30 and there may have been a funnel order mix-up!).
The exposed Catterick course was very windy but that did not hinder Paul Simpson also recording an all time PB with 20-05, followed by Nicola Simpson in 21-45. Raymond Lightle completed his 99th Parkrun in 24-10, to set up his century landmark next time out. John Hunter finished in 29-12, with Tracey Tickner acting as tail walker volunteer to see the last runner home.
Ken Mountain travelled to Batley to run in the Oakwell Hall Parkrun and recorded 33-44, while Paul Bainbridge sampled the soggy delights of Northallerton PR in 25-06.
The weather on Sunday morning in Liverpool was no better when James Bartram battled his way round the city’s half marathon, but still recorded a PB time of 1 hour 33 minutes and 54 seconds.
The club held its Annual General Meeting last week with an excellent attendance from members. Well respected Bedale businessman and ultra runner, Paul Ellis, was elected Chair, with Mary McDonald as Secretary, Paul Simpson as Treasurer and Paul Berry as Membership Secretary. The other committee members, some with specific roles were: Louise Baker, Rebecca Barker, Alison Barron, Stuart Black, Julie Giblin, Chris Lees, Laura McDonald and Will Retchless.
